This event must be seen as an attempt to look at the situation of decision making both from the side of the laboratories,  from the side of those setting the limits to which conformance/non-conformance has to be decided, and from the side of those who are finally going to make the decisions!

Agenda            (TOP)

Analytical results are meant as giving the basis for making the right decision in a vast number of circumstances in our modern society  -  mostly judging on whether a given product is in compliance with already stated limits or whether tests can give significant basis for deciding on which step to take next.

This process of using analytical results for decisions is though handled differently in a many cases not least when the measurement uncertainty has to be taken into account  -  both from the side of those stating the limits and from those making the decisions!
The agenda in this conference is dealing with subjects like….

  • The role of analytical laboratories in the 21st century. How does the new EU Legal Framework count on the analytical laboratories in market surveillance etc.

  • The significance of decision making and how analytical can – and must – be understood as basis for making decisions

  • Principles of setting specifications and regulatory limits taking the not infallible nature of analytical results into account

  • The process of decision making and the risks related to that using analytical results as the basis for the decisions

  • Examples of the importance of making the right decision in various situations

  • a.o.

Venue            (TOP)

The Conference/Workshop took place at Hotel Niels Juel* at the seaside just south of Copenhagen in Denmark

It is situated in the little town Køge 40 km south of Copenhagen city, next to highway E20/E47, 40 min drive from Copenhagen International Airport (or 1 h by metro/S-train) and with only 40 min S-train directly to the heart of Copenhagen.

(Detailed travel information will be sent to all registrants and further information about the hotel can be found on www.hotelnielsjuel.dk )

* PS.: The hotel is named after the famous Danish naval hero, Niels Juel, who was in command of the Danish fleet in July 1677 when it met the Sweedish fleet in one of the biggest naval battles in Danish waters!
About 90 major and smaller warships (52 Sweedish and 38 Danish) met in the dramatic battle in Køge Bugt (.... and the Danish won after several days!).
The  old city of Køge (5 min. walk away!) bears lot of evidence of this historic event.
